The Asantii journey began when Maryse Mbonyumutwa, our founder, with over two decades in the fashion industry in Africa, set her sights on creating a global fashion brand rooted in the continent.
A brand of ethically made and timeless essentials. A brand with purpose, spearheading a fashion revolution, supporting African designers, artists, and artisans while uplifting the workers behind the brand and their families through the Pink Ubuntu social investment program.
Establishing a manufacturing infrastructure was the initial step in this unchartered path. Today, Pink Mango and its partner C&D Products employ over 4,000 staff in Rwanda, predominantly women.
The second step was to build a dream team of designers across Africa supported by a team of international luxury brand and supply experts. Drawn together by the spirit of Ubuntu, together they shaped Asantii, a beautiful fashion brand from Africa to the world.
We are proud to build upon Africa’s wealth of cultural heritage and support creativity with each collection.
Asantii’s team of designers spans 12 African countries and are passionate about sharing their unique perspectives with each other, and the world. Each season these talents, supported by a London-based team of fashion experts, find fresh inspirations from their country’s craft and textile traditions, cultural histories, and natural landscapes to inform the collective mood. This authentic collaboration results in clean, co-created collections that exude a pan-African pride.
Embracing the spirit of Ubuntu, a belief in our shared humanity, Asantii is founded on a strong commitment to uplifting everyone who works and collaborates with us.
Ubuntu (giving back) drives everything we do, from prioritising the needs of our workers and their families through corporate social responsibility, to supporting our designers’ individual brands through capsule collections. Our ultimate aim is to be a catalyst for the development of the fashion, garment, and textile industries throughout Africa. Asantii says ‘thank you’ to a continent that has given so much to us all.
