FASHTALKS WITH GIDDY GAL SWIM

When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a designer? 

Well...Becoming the designer of Giddy Gal Swim evolved from a style problem I wanted to solve for myself. Feeling beautiful and confident in swimwear had become a struggle. I decided to make my own bathing suits with materials that helped me find my flirty fun self and share them with others.

What was your first job out of college, and how did you land that position?

I loved my very first job out of college as a Special Education Teacher! I was very proud to land a position as a Therapeutic Teacher, working with preschool children who exhibited severe emotional issues.

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be? 

The one thing I would tell myself before beginning any career is...Everyone starts at the beginning, just take the first step.

How do you define fashion?

I would define fashion as and emotional reaction to what is seen, felt and worn. Wearable Art.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style changes, but most days it is Jeans and Jewels with an edge.

What was your biggest fear when going out and starting your own line?

My biggest fear when starting Giddy Gal Swim was and still is running out of funds. I know when the right buyers see my designs, there is no stopping Giddy Gal Swim and my creative mind. 

What is your favorite part about being a designer?

My favorite part of being a designer is making my vision and reality. Changing how women feel about how their bodies look in a Giddy Gal Swim Creation is rewarding.

How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?

I want my Gals to feel just like themselves in Giddy Gal Swim...Confident, Sexy and Stylish.

Where do you draw inspiration from for your designs?

Along with Old Hollywood Glamor, the women in my life inspire my Giddy Gal Swim designs. Their fierce sense of self through fashion and what they wear makes a powerful statement.

Are you passionate about something other than fashion?

Besides being passionate about fashion and family, I am also in LOVE with my students. Children and their families inspire my creativity on a daily basis while also keeping me grounded. Being a part of something bigger than yourself is exhilarating, energizing and good for your creative soul.

What is your favorite fashion trend?

My favorite trend is sustainable fashion. Giddy Gal Swim creates high quality, timeless designs that are long lasting and stylish. I still rock my original Giddy gal Swim suit more than 10 years later. Giddy Gal Swim helps build your vacation wardrobe.
